For those passengers who need to drive their own vehicles to the Girona Airport, parking should be easily accessible. The airport offers more than 2,000 total spots in three different areas (P1, P2, and P3). P2 and P3 are open-air parking lots; P1 is a covered parking garage with a total of 860 indoor spaces. There is also a passenger pick-up and drop-off station located directly outside the terminal’s main entrance.
All three of the parking areas are monitored by security guards 24 hours a day, so you can leave your vehicle with peace of mind while traveling. However, we do recommend that you take any valuables along with you and lock all car doors.
Entering & Exiting the Parking Area
To proceed past the parking area’s barrier upon entry, you’ll need to obtain a ticket from the automated dispenser machine. Be sure to park only in authorized spots, as the parking service will tow any illegally parked cars. When leaving your vehicle to enter the airport, remember to bring your ticket with you—do not leave it in your car. Make a note of the exact spot where your car is parked so you can find it easily.
When you’re ready to retrieve your vehicle, simply take your ticket to one of the automatic parking payment machines located throughout the airport and adjacent to the parking areas. After payment, the airport allows you 20 minutes to insert your ticket to raise the barrier in order to exit the parking area. After the 20-minute grace period, the barrier will lock again, requiring you to purchase a new parking ticket. (It’s important to note that the ticket payment office only accepts currency of 50 Euros or smaller.) Be sure not to misplace your ticket, as a replacement ticket will cost you 38 Euros.
One perk of the Girona parking service is that the staff will jump-start your vehicle’s battery in the event that it fails while parked. If you encounter any vehicle-related problems, simply press the alert button on one of the automatic payment machines or see an airport associate directly.
